Davis Household Water Treatment Installation

This water treatment installation was installed during a real estate transaction. The original homeowners had lived in the home for 15+ years and put the house on the market with the understanding the water would be fine. They tested it when they originally purchased the home and it was fine. However, over the 15 years, they lived in the house the guidelines for radon water went from 20,000 pCi/l, to 4,000 pCi/l. The water test during the inspection showed levels around 16,000 pCi/l, which needed treatment under the new guidelines.

Water Problem:

During the home inspection, radon water was found to be elevated. The water also had 6 grains of hardness, which is considered moderately hard. The homeowners previously didn’t have a water softener, but one is needed when treating for radon in the water. In addition, hardness is essential when installing an aeration system for radon. Without an aeration system, the hardness will build up and reduce efficiency in the water softener over time.

Davis Household Water Treatment Installation by Fontus

Davis Household Water Treatment Installation Solution:

We installed a high-efficiency water softener along with a radon water unit. The high-efficiency water softener will prevent hardness from building up inside of the radon water unit. Based on the hardness level and the estimated number of gallons of water used in the home, this high-efficiency water softener will only use about bags of salt per YEAR! For the radon in the water, we installed a Bubble Up Sr. with the vent stack run on the backside of the home, where it is discreetly installed. This radon mitigation system will blow air through the water, strip the radon from the water, and exit the house through the vent stack.
